MakingSociety is Looking For Contributors

Hi to all of you dear readers,

Today, I want to invite you to join the MakingSociety adventure.

As you know I’ve been running for the last 4 years. The last 2 years have been dedicated to helping makers start hardware companies.

I believe that online content doesn’t have to be short to be read and that headlines don’t have to be dirty clickbait to be clicked. I don’t hesitate to write long, in-depth articles on topics that are not talked much online.

MakingSociety articles are not a one-time shot. More than 15,000 readers come here every month to read, bookmark and re-read the content.

Articles like “Modelling Clay and Moldable Plastics for Prototyping” or “How to Package a Product” are good examples of the content philosophy behind MakingSociety. Long-term, useful, unique.

It’s a work in progress and it’s still a long road before to create the ultimate resource here for open hardware entrepreneurs.

And talking about open source hardware… I’ve been pretty bad at involving you in the process!

Not anymore.

Become a Contributor on MakingSociety

I now open the blog to regular and occasional contributors interested to research, learn and share knowledge on open hardware entrepreneurship.

Topics such as:

  • manufacturing
  • sourcing
  • logistics
  • sales and retail
  • funding and budgeting
  • design for manufacturing
  • open source hardware practices

The more targeted and complex the topic is, the better. The goal of MakingSociety is to create content on topics that are not usually talked openly online. We are not a hot news outlet, we are not here to reinvent the wheel. The web is full of that already.

What is There for You?

Learn how to research information and write for the web. Learn everything about your favorite topics and become an expert in your field. Experience what it takes and how it feels to publish killer articles on a media with a strong reputation in its community.

MakingSociety articles have been featured in Make Magazine, Wired, EETimes, Le Monde, Adafruit Blog, Open Electronics and many more.

If I can help you with something, I’ll be happy to do so. We become a team.

How to Contribute?

If this sounds interesting to you, send an email to mathilde[at] with subject line “Contribute“. Simply say hi or tell me as much as you want on how you would like to contribute and the articles you’re thinking about (if any yet).

Looking forward to great collaborations!
